How I Work
FIRST CONTACT
When you first make contact, we will have a short conversation by phone or email. If you then decide you would like to meet me for an initial session, we will fix an appointment as soon as we can.
This first appointment is an opportunity for us to meet face-to-face, and for us to decide whether we want to work together. For this to happen, you will need to voice your concerns, difficulties. It will be helpful on that occasion to share a brief history of yourself and your background.
At the end of it we should have a good idea as to whether we think we can work together. However, you can also decide to go away and think about it for a few days before reaching a decision about this or also to try one or two different therapists before making your decision.
WORKING TOGETHER
Once you have decided that you would like to come and see me, we need agree on terms. It is important that we make a commitment to regular sessions, to allow for continuity. We might initially decide to meet for 3 – 6 sessions, to see how that works out. It may be that you only feel a need for a few sessions in order to address your main problems. For Psychotherapy a longer committment is usually needed. In the end it’s about finding the best way to meet your needs and aggreeing on modality and terms.
